Last summer I decided to sign up to become a pet sitter on a worldwide traveling pet sitter website. I was still in a fog of grief from the passing of my dog so it seemed like a great way to escape and help out other pets and people all over the world! I was super excited upon signing up and I was amazed by how many generous reviews some of my clients took the time to put on the site.
You can check out my world-traveling pet sitter profile here. If nothing else I am proud that the care I take in my work can be confirmed by the comments others made on my profile. Click on the references link, then click on the down arrows to the far right of the page to read each person’s review. Very humbled and grateful for all the love! As luck would have it after my profile on Trusted Housesitters was completed, I got super busy with clients in Austin which devoured my summer (in a good way), so I didn’t get to travel anywhere last summer. Turns out I thought I might get to do an 8-week stint in Bali last fall but after corresponding with the homeowners a couple of times through the website they decided to hire a couple instead (I guess an extra person tending to their property and pets was extra peace of mind in case something went awry). Maybe a single woman alone in the Bali jungle wasn’t the best thing for me afterall. Who knows? I always trust that everything works out for a reason even if I don’t know what that reason is. Over the winter I took my own international vacation and then came home to Austin and had a major joint surgery, so that pretty much sealed up any hopes of mine to partake in a travelling pet sitting job in the states or elsewhere so far this year. I keep reminding myself to be patient and when the timing is right it’ll happen. My summer here is Austin is already starting to book up but I am hoping to squeeze a travelling pet sit in for a week or two this summer or maybe a few months in the fall or winter either here or abroad. The projects I do in addition to pet sitting gives me some mobility and I can work from most anywhere that has wifi! Check out Trusted Housesitters if you want to be a traveling pet sitter or want to use a pet sitter who travels. It seems to be a legitimate website to connect pet owners and and pet sitters worldwide! Had a good or bad experience with Trusted Housesitters? I want to know! Email me. Hopefully I will get something booked very soon. Stay tuned and I’ll tell you how the adventure goes! Yvonne |
